How To Duplicate Or Move A Shipping Method

Quickly create a copy of a shipping method or move a shipping method from one zone to another zone.

There may be times when you need to duplicate or move a shipping method. For example, you may have multiple zones that require identical shipping rates or parcel services, or you might want to offer a nearly identical shipping method within the same zone. Perhaps you've added a shipping method to the wrong zone and want to move it without rebuilding it completely.

Intuitive Shipping makes it easy to duplicate or move any shipping method in just a few clicks.

Shipping methods can only be duplicated or moved within the same Scenario.

If you need to use an identical or similar shipping method in another Scenario, you’ll need to create a new version of it in that Scenario. Alternatively, if the new Scenario hasn’t been created yet, you can duplicate the entire Scenario - including any assigned shipping methods - then edit both the Scenario and its shipping method settings as needed.

Duplicate A Shipping Method

Duplicating lets you create an exact copy of the original shipping method and assign it to either the same zone or a different zone. Every setting from the original will be copied to the duplicate.

This is useful when you want to have identical shipping methods in multiple zones or nearly identical versions in the same or different zones with only small variations. For example, you might offer both ‘Signature Required’ and ‘No Signature’ methods in the same zone, where the only difference is the carrier’s signature-required add-on fee.

Once you create a copy of an existing shipping method, you can either leave it as is or make changes as needed. Editing the duplicate will not affect the original.

KB KnowledgeCarriers cannot be changed. Parcel service, freight service and integrated service shipping methods are unique to each carrier or integrated service.

For example, if you have a FedEx shipping method and want to create a UPS version with the same packing algorithm, package sizes, and markups, you’ll need to create a new UPS parcel service shipping method instead of duplicating, since carriers can’t be switched. However, if you have a FedEx shipping method in a domestic zone and want a nearly identical one in an international zone, you can duplicate it, then simply switch the FedEx delivery services from domestic to international while keeping the rest of the settings the same.

In this example, we’re duplicating a parcel service shipping method for FedEx, but you can follow the same steps to duplicate any type of shipping method, including freight service, integrated service, free shipping, local delivery, or custom rate methods.

1. Click Shipping on the sidebar menu, then select Scenarios from the drop-down list.

If you’re creating a duplicate in a different zone from the original, you can use the same title as the original if you prefer. However, if the duplicate is in the same zone, we recommend giving it a unique title so you can easily distinguish between the two, such as 'FedEx Signature Required'.

Move A Shipping Method

Intuitive Shipping lets you easily migrate an existing shipping method from one zone or subzone to another.

This is useful if you’ve spent time setting up a shipping method and assigned it to the wrong zone, or if you want to test the same shipping method in different zones without recreating it multiple times.

When a shipping method is moved, it’s removed completely from the original zone. That means it will no longer be available in that zone, and shipping rates for that method won’t appear at checkout for customers in that region.

In this example, we’re moving a parcel service shipping method for FedEx, but you can follow the same steps to move any type of shipping method, including freight service, integrated service, free shipping, local delivery, or custom rate methods.
